Without an account
You can play everything without signing in. Your high score, badges, stats, season medals, settings, player profiles and offline packs stay on your device. A transfer link carries them to another device inside the link itself; it is never sent to us. When you answer, the game sends the quote's id and whether you got it right, with nothing that identifies you, so difficulty can be ranked from real answers. There are no ads and no tracking. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without following you to other sites.
With an account
An account is optional. It stores your email address (or the Apple or Google account you sign in with), your display name, your scores, your friends and your club, on Cloudflare at api.jaybulb.com. That is what puts you on leaderboards, friends boards, the weekly cup, the live show and the season ladder. To check a score is fair, the game sends the run with it (which lines, which answers, how many points); only the score is kept. Packs and lines you send in are kept with your account until they are reviewed and published. Delete your account from the account screen and all of it is removed, apart from packs and lines already published.
The daily quote by email
Only if you ask for it. We keep your email address and whether you confirmed, nothing else, on Cloudflare, and send one email a day through Resend. Every email has a one-tap unsubscribe.
Live duels
A duel passes your scores and display name between the two players and anyone watching, through Cloudflare. Nothing is kept once both players leave.
Voice
Both voice settings are off until you turn them on. Reading quotes aloud uses your device's own voice and sends nothing. Answering by voice uses your browser's speech recognition: Safari recognizes speech on your device, while Chrome sends the audio to Google to turn it into text.
Third parties
The site is served by Cloudflare, which may log standard request data such as IP address and browser. The web version loads poster and album art from TMDB and Apple, and opening a story card asks Wikipedia for that title's article. The apps bundle the quotes, load the same art, and keep your best score in iCloud under your own Apple ID. The embed and invite pages set no cookies.
